South Pole Clothes was founded in 1977 by two brothers Kenny and Davied Khym. Native Koreans who came to the US from Inchon in 1977, David used his savings and credit to establish a retail clothing store in Brooklyn. He hired Kenny to work in the store until they relocated to Jamaica Queens.

The clothing became so popular that the Khyms brothers had trouble keeping the fashion in stock. In 1991 they established the wholesale company “Wicked Fashions” which imported clothes from Pakistan. In honor of the team of Korean explorers that where the first to reach the Southpole, David Khym so named his company. Southpole Clothes succeeded by providing styles similar to those of other popular urban labels such as FUBU.
